Summary
Paul began his legal career being called to the Bar in 2003 and accepting tenancy at a London set. Having re-located to the Midlands, Paul joined the Crown Prosecution Service in 2006. During a 17-year career, he progressed to be a Grade 3 Crown Advocate until 2013. From 2013 until 2023 Paul held many management positions and was appointed as a Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor in 2018 first in the Southeast Area and then at CPS London North.
Paul retained his passion for advocacy continuing to prosecute cases of varying complexity. He was national lead in Wildlife and Environmental prosecutions and area lead in international crime.
Paul returned to the self-employed Bar and joined KCH Garden Square in 2023. Despite being a prosecutor for many years Paul regularly defends and secured an acquittal in his first defence trial. Having an intimate appreciation for the way the CPS works Paul is adept at scrutinising a prosecution case and persuading Prosecutors to discontinue cases. He recently secured a Judge directed acquittal in an assault police case at Lincoln Crown Court in such a manner.
Paul also accepts instructions in regulatory and civil work. He is regularly instructed by the East Midlands Police legal service on applications in relation to Proceeds of Crime, Stalking Protection Orders and DVPOs.
Paul is also a qualified pupil supervisor and currently a Grade 2 Prosecutor.
Paul is available for instructions in all aspects of criminal law, regulatory and civil as mentioned above, in the Crown and Magistrates’ Courts for both Prosecution and Defence.
