Katy was Called to the Bar in 2021 by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. She studied law at the University of Nottingham before completing the Bar Professional Course at the University of Law in Birmingham, where she was an Advocacy Scholar.

During her undergraduate studies, Katy won the University of Nottingham mooting competition and was a finalist in her university’s Supreme Court mooting competition. She also completed a year abroad at the University of Connecticut School of Law in which she studied American law and advocacy.

Katy was awarded a Distinction by the University of Law for her Pro Bono LLM, in which she advised clients referred by Women’s Aid on domestic abuse injunctions and s.8 Children Act applications.

On completing the Bar course, Katy worked as a County Court Advocate representing clients in civil matters across the Midlands. She has since been a paralegal in a local family law firm, assisting an experienced solicitor in complex child law matters.

Katy began her Family Law pupillage with supervisors Louise Sapstead and Samuel Coe in January 2023.

Local Childcare Solicitor, 2023

“I’ve been extremely impressed by Katy Fellows, she has represented clients on very short notice (on one occasion receiving the brief 3 hours before the hearing!) despite the short notice clients have found her to be well prepared and knowledgeable. Katy has been able to obtain some excellent outcomes for clients in complex circumstances. Her preparation and skills have been extremely impressive, especially for a Pupil. I am looking forward to seeing the advocate Katy grows into!”
