Summary

Katie began her career at the Criminal Bar in London and joined KCH from Goldsmith Chambers, Temple. With a broad practice, Katie is predominantly instructed in criminal defence and sports law but also has experience of Courts Martial, regulatory, licensing and local authority work.

Katie has represented defendants in a wide variety of criminal cases as well as sports governing bodies and individuals in sports disciplinary work such as the RFU and the ASA. She currently sits as a member of the RFU, England Netball and LRU (Leicestershire Rugby Union) Disciplinary Panels as well as the FA’s Regional Disciplinary Panel. She previously sat as a Chair of the FA’s Anti-Discrimination in Football panel and as a part time lecturer at De Montfort Law on the module, ‘The Sports Participant and the Courts’.

Katie has experience across Sports related work including: on and off field disciplinary actions, safeguarding, lack of promotion, analysing employment contracts, image rights re contract termination, media rights in swimming; in particular in respect of child protection, social media platforms and discrimination. Paperwork and advocacy. General Sports Regulatory work.
 
Recent Sports Law Roles:
Katie has been Presenting Counsel for the RFU in several disciplinary hearings. Also advised the RFU Safeguarding team on witness evidence gathering and charging.
Disciplinary Officer for the ASA including case preparation and advices, drafting of charges and prosecuting officer at trial. 
Chair of the FA’s Anti Discrimination in Football Panel.
Lecturer – DMU law, Leicester, on the module, ‘The Sports’ Participant and the Courts’. LLM Distance Learning.

Katie studied History at the University of Durham and then Law at the College of Law, York and the City of London Law School. 

Katie is creator and CEO of bsporty magazine. This is a children’s online multi sports publication www.bsporty.co.uk inspiring children to love sport and encourage reading. 

Katie is working with NGB’s, sports companies and charities including the Youth Sport Trust, Mintridge Foundation, RFU, British Athletics, Skateboard GB, Surfing England, LTA, Grays TeamSports and many more. 

Katie was shortlisted for the Great British Businesswoman ‘Changemaker in Sport’ award 2023. 

Katie is also a mother of three boys in primary and secondary education.
