Holly qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and has 20 years’ experience of family law. She has worked as a solicitor in both private practice and Local Authority legal departments (Birmingham City Council and Warwickshire County Council). From 2003, whilst in private practice, she was continually a member of the Law Society Children Panel.

Holly has extensive experience in dealing with both private and public law Children Act matters. Her experience is wide ranging and includes cases with international elements.

Holly strives to provide both professional and lay clients alike with sensible advice to identify a clear way forward through the legal process. She has a down to earth, sensitive yet robust approach.

Holly has represented Local Authorities, parents, children, intervenors and other family members in complex public law proceedings.

These have included care proceedings, secure accommodation applications, adoption proceedings and wardship cases covering a wide range of issues including non-accidental injuries, sexual risk, domestic violence and substance misuse, and mental health issues.

Within private law proceedings Holly has represented parents, children and members of the child’s extended family in cases of complexity including cases where the children are separately represented and where there are issues of implacable hostility.

The issues in cases she has dealt with have included questions of with whom the children are to live, the amount of time they should spend with a parent or relative, supervision of contact time, whether children should move abroad or remain in the UK upon the relocation of a parent, and specific aspects of parenting decisions, for example whether the children should practise a religion or attend a particular school.

Holly accepts instructions to represent clients resolving division of assets upon separation. She acts as an advocate within court proceedings at FDA/ FDRs and final hearings.

Should clients wish to participate in alternative dispute resolution, Holly is happy to accept instructions to represent parties at private FDRs and at Early Neutral Evaluations.
