Zoe was called to the Bar in 2010 and is a Harmsworth Scholar of the Middle Temple. Zoe studied Law at the University of Nottingham and completed the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Law School.
Zoe is a family practitioner. The mainstay of her practice is in public and private law Children Act matters, though she is regularly instructed in financial relief/matrimonial cases. She has been commended for her client friendly manner and her attentive approach.
Zoe has acted in all varieties of private law Children Act matters, from basic applications, to enforcement and fact-finding proceedings. A number of the private law matters she has conducted involve implacably hostile parents and necessitate the appointment of a Guardian to act on behalf the child/ren. Zoe also has experience of cases involving conflicts as to cultural, religious and medical decisions for the child, as well as those involving leave to relocate outside of the jurisdiction. Zoe is commended for her efficiency in conducting cases for privately paying clients who are no longer eligible for legal aid.
Zoe has been involved in protracted private law disputes, including those involving serious allegations of domestic violence, rape, honour based violence and child abuse. Zoe regularly conducts finding of fact hearings and has experience of representing clients with significant mental health difficulties.
Zoe’s private law practice also extends to injunctive proceedings and applications involving specific issues for children. Zoe is available for instruction in “step parent adoption” cases and in occupation order applications.
Zoe regularly acts for parents and Local Authorities in public law proceedings. She conducts contested interim, final and finding of fact hearings. Zoe acts for parents and intervener clients in Non-Accidental Injury cases and has experience of complex finding of fact proceedings relating to allegations of sexual abuse. Zoe has experience of public law cases involving parents with personality disorders, learning difficulties and mental health conditions. She also acts for parents requiring the assistance of the Official Solicitor, most recently in a final hearing involving a vulnerable parents with schizophrenia.
Zoe is available for emergency instructions and EPO hearings – acting for both parents and the Local Authority.
Zoe is available for instruction in all stages of financial remedy proceedings. Zoe regularly deals with each stage of matrimonial proceedings and advises in relation to division of assets upon divorce/separation. Zoe is happy to conduct TOLATA matters.
Zoe is also a Direct Access accredited Barrister.
