Background

Lucia has been involved in a number of community projects. Whilst studying on the BPTC Lucia was involved in pro-bono work with the Legal Advice Centre which receives most of its referrals from Women’s Aid. Also, she acted as a mentor for a group of secondary school students who were participating in the Young Citizens Mock Trial Competition. This involved demonstrating and explaining advocacy techniques and developing the students’ case theories. Furthermore, last year Lucia was on the committee of the Christmas Dinner Project in Birmingham. The project provides a Christmas Dinner for care leavers between the age of eighteen and twenty-five and Lucia’s role centred around communications.

Throughout her legal studies Lucia also participated in debating, mooting, and advocacy competitions. The experience Lucia gained culminated in her winning a Plea in Mitigation Competition.

Before completing the BPTC, Lucia worked in the education sector at one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the country and at an international summer school. This has made her comfortable engaging with young people from various backgrounds and cultures.

Outside of work Lucia enjoys sports and travel. She recently combined her two passions by completing the River Kwai Half-Marathon in Thailand.
