Year of Call 2007
Julie was called to the bar in 2007 and practises in family, criminal and civil law. She was graded ‘Outstanding’ on the Bar Vocational Course and since completing pupillage has built up an extensive practice. Julie has a thorough approach and is always well-prepared. She quickly develops a good rapport with her clients, whilst remaining professional.
Julie’s family practice includes both private and public law matters. She regularly appears in contested contact and residence disputes as well as injunctive matters. She has experience in dealing with issues of neglect, non-accidental injuries, sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
Her criminal practice covers all areas of crime and she both prosecutes and defends in the Crown Court, Youth Court and Magistrates’ Court. Julie also conducts prosecutions on behalf of local authorities. Her civil practice includes personal injury matters, road traffic disputes and possession hearings. She also has a wealth of experience in anti-social behaviour proceedings.
Julie received an Internship Award from Inner Temple in 2007 and travelled to South Africa where she worked for a NGO assisting asylum seekers and refugees. Prior to completing pupillage Julie worked as a paralegal in a family law firm.
Julie co-wrote an article with Solicitor Alison Neate, Smith Partnership, on the subject of minors and the fixed costs regime which was published in both the Solicitors Journal and the Personal Injury Law Journal (‘Fixed costs: a minor issue’ Solicitors Journal S.J. (2008) Vol. 152; No. 46; ages 19 and 20; ‘Fixed in their ways’ Personal Injury Law Journal P.I.L.J. (2009) No. 72, February; pages. 7 and 9).
