Year of Call 2010
Hannah was called to the Bar in 2010 following completion of the BVC at Nottingham Law School where she was deemed to be “Very Competent”. She is a Hardwicke Scholar of Lincoln’s Inn and studied Law at the University of Liverpool. Hannah joined chambers following the successful completion of her pupillage, under the supervision of Stuart Lody.
Summary – Civil
Prior to coming to the Bar, Hannah was employed as a claimant personal injury paralegal and later investigated fraudulent personal injury claims at one of the country’s leading solicitor’s firms, with a particular interest in “Low Velocity Impact” road traffic incidents. She has amassed a great deal of experience in personal injury litigation, from inception through to drafting pleadings and trials.
Hannah is now regularly instructed in road traffic matters in the County Court as well as other small claims including contractual disputes often involving large, national companies.
More recently, Hannah has developed a busy practice defending and prosecuting cases of housing related anti-social behaviour, both orders and injunctions from the initial hearings in both the Magistrates’ and County Courts through to committal proceedings for breach of an injunction.
Summary – Family
Hannah’s family practice focuses mainly on private law matters, including contact and residence applications. Hannah has been commended for her personable approach with clients and is regularly re-instructed from directions hearings through to contested applications.
Hannah has represented parents who have learning difficulties and has experience of dealing with cases involving allegations of domestic violence and cultural or religious differences.
Hannah has also spent time working in-house with a local authority and has been instructed to attend advocates meetings and case management hearings under the new Public Law Outline. Hannah is keen to develop her practice in all aspects of public law proceedings.
Summary – Crime
Hannah’s main focus is crime and she regularly prosecutes and defends in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts where she has been described as a “natural prosecutor” yet is also known for her effective mitigation, often making the difference between custody and a community-based penalty. Hannah is often privately instructed in driving matters and she is a busy trial advocate, prosecuting and defending matters including harassment, assault, theft and drugs matters in the Magistrates’ Court. Hannah often prosecutes specialist domestic violence courts where her personable approach with vulnerable witnesses is often noted. She also has experience of dealing with child witnesses.
Hannah prosecutes for Probation and the Youth Offending Team and has a great deal of experience of dealing with breaches of community and suspended sentence orders.
