Amanda Cranny

Year of Call 1984

Amanda read Law at Bristol University before being called to the Bar in 1984, joining KCH Garden Square in 1990. Developing an extensive family law practice Amanda has gained particular expertise in Public Law Children Act proceedings. She is a member of Lincoln’s Inn and was a Hardwicke Scholar.

 

Summary

Amanda now returns to practice having spent recent years lecturing in Law (family law, advocacy skills,negotiation and civil procedure) on the BPTC in Nottingham. Whilst in practice she had an excellent reputation amongst the Bar, Judiciary and with solicitors, being known for her thorough preparation, high professional standards and advocacy skills. Amanda was a formidable opponent, but had a very affable manner with clients and professionals alike.

Amanda was regularly instructed by Local Authorities and on behalf of parents in complex cases.

She is also been appointed as an Assistant Deputy Coroner for Nottinghamshire.

Amanda practises as a Family and Public Access barrister.

 

Additional information

Amanda has been a school governor for a number of years and has also been a member of an ethics committee at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. She has been a non-medical member of the management committee of Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and has lectured Medical Postgraduate students on ethics at Nottingham University.
